Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz who was birthed in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her after her hometown. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's mother and father are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County, California when she was seven. There they didn't have electricity. Television books were Ryder's only distraction for her time, and she began to read extensively. At the age of 12 Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In the year she turned 15, Ryder landed her first part on screen, in Lucas. Ryder endured bullying while in high school. Ryder hoped that her actions would bring about a change. However, the plan didn't pan out. It didn't stop her from following her dreams. In 1988, she got her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. Ryder was nominated twice for Academy Awards one for her role as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
